Just finished the Gang Tapes, which is on Netflix Instant if you’re interested. This movie was shocking, horrifying, engrossing, violent, everything. I don’t even know. This movie was more realistic than any other I’ve ever seen. It’s about a 13-ish year old kid who gets his hands on a video camera after a white family is carjacked while lost in the Watts ghetto. The things that happen after are… wow. It felt so real. I felt like I’d witnessed real crimes, been complicit in those crimes. I felt like I was there with them.
If you’ve got a spare hour and a half, WATCH THIS MOVIE. It will change the way you look at gang violence, and violence in general. This isn’t like other movies, documentaries, news reports, or anything like that. It’s gritty, disturbing, tragic, and gripping. Seriously, it’s worth your time.
